About this event
Organised by the Singapore Heritage Society (SHS), in collaboration with the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).

This year, Haw Par Villa marks 85 years of history since its inception in 1937. Through this history, it has served many functions, held many meanings, and gone through many iterations: an eclectic private garden and residence for the Aw family; a philanthropic gift open to all Singaporeans, providing both moral instruction and entertaining storytelling; and a theme park brimming with thrilling rides and talented performers; among others. Above all, it has left many Singaporeans with indelible memories.

SHS invites you to join us for a panel discussion on 7 May, 12.30pm-2.30pm SGT to reflect on the rich past, present challenges, and potential futures of Haw Par Villa. What does Haw Par Villa mean to Singaporeans? How can Haw Par Villa remain relevant to the changing social, cultural, and economic contexts? Can Haw Par Villa’s heritage be a guide and asset for its future? Speakers from different walks of life will chime in on these topics and more, through the lens of their unique perspectives, experiences, and expertise.
